In a complex, technological, global society, the most effective leaders are those who are able to tap the vast resources of nonverbal intelligence. Intersubjective awareness involves paying attention to your own nonverbal experience/body language cues and those of the people you’re interacting with at the same time. This is easier said than done.
To develop those interpersonal skills, horses provide the ultimate shortcut. Horses mirror and respond to dynamics that remain largely unconscious in humans. When we become conscious of what we communicate to others nonverbally, and what they communicate back to us nonverbally, a whole new universe of information is suddenly available to us. To achieve any business or personal goal, this information demands that we develop the ability to improvise as we respond and adapt to these subtle cues.
