If you love horses, dream of horses or are simply drawn
to the Spirit of the Horse, come and experience this special human-equine
bond. At Horse
Spirit Connections, you will work directly with the horses
and be given tools to incorporate the wisdom of the horse into your own
life.
Based on the teachings of founder, Linda Kohanov, and therapist, Kathleen
Barry Ingram, M.A., the Epona Approach will facilitate the reconnection
of your heart and soul inspiring healing and growth. Linda has received
international recognition for her work and has written two books, The
Tao of Equus and Riding Between the Worlds.

Linda named her work with the horses the ‘Epona Approach™’ after
the Ancient Celtic Goddess Epona whose name derives from the Celtic word
for ‘horse’. All
riders and warriors revered Epona as her patronage of journeys had a
profoundly spiritual aspect. She was known for her ability to unlock
the gateway to the Otherworld.
In the same way, Horse Spirit Connections can help you unlock a gateway. Through
this powerful experience you can learn how horses can help you let go
of old fears and encourage you to lead yourself into the next step of
your growth.

With the horse and our programs you will experience:
- Expanded awareness
- Opening of your heart
- Strengthening of your intuition
- Understanding subtle boundaries
- An increase of vitality and energy
Horse Wisdom
Are you searching for ways to come back into balance with your heart,
mind and body? At Horse Spirit Connections, you will
explore how horses can guide us on our spiritual path and teach us the
art of emotional balance.
Horses are perfectly willing to accept us as we are as
long as we are emotionally congruent: honest about our emotions, rather
than masking them. Even when we are ‘incongruent’,
the horses don’t
judge but they may retreat. Emotions are the messengers of authenticity. If
you mask your real feelings, or override them with logic, you’re
conflicted. At that point the horse will usually walk away. This
is ‘horse wisdom’ – the ability to feel incongruence
and/or a lack of authenticity, and not to engage with it.
Oftentimes a person steps into the engagement and the horse turns, comes
over and immediately puts his nose to a very particular part of that
person – the exact part that is wounded physically or emotionally. Horses
pick up everything from a broken heart to an injured knee. The
horse moves in, to bring awareness and create an energetically compassionate,
healing space into which the individual can then move.
Participants in our specially designed Equine Facilitated Experiential
Learning (EFEL) activities deepen their awareness of personal issues,
core feelings and areas of bodily tension that inhibit their ability
to reach their true potential. A tremendous boost in self-esteem
and confidence comes from learning how to establish boundaries with a
thousand pound horse through mental focus, creative visualization and
clarity of intent.
These horse exercises help people move beyond their familiar coping strategies
developed in order to survive in this competitive, action-driven world,
to a place of thriving with open hearts.
